Annual Progress Report on Gender Equality 2010 Author: SDC The present report is part of a process guided by the Gender Focal Point, supported by the Gender Equality Network, and instituted following the 2009 independent evaluation of the Agency’s performance in mainstreaming gender equality. This is the second report of its kind. It responds to the Board of Director’s recognition that leadership and clarity in the allocation of responsibility are crucial to improving the Agency’s performance in policy implementation. The Board believes that periodic and systematic strategic reviews provide a basis for steering to assist those entrusted with this responsibility to successfully fulfill their roles. The Board of Directors’ management response to the first Annual Progress Report on Gender Equality (GE APR 2009) confirmed the Gender Equality Network’s mandate to provide such reviews.

Annual Progress Report on Gender Equality 2009 Author: SDC The present report, the first of its kind, brings together contributions from Quality Assurance, Corporate Controlling, Human Resources and Equal Opportunities, and is the result of a process the Gender Network Focal Point guided. It originates from the Board of Directors’ recognition, following the 2009 independent evaluation of the Agency’s performance in mainstreaming gender equality2, that leadership and clarity in the allocation of responsibility is crucial in improving the Agency’s performance in policy implementation, and that in order for those entrusted with this responsibility to be in a position to fully take on their role, periodic and systematic strategic reviews are needed upon which steering can rely.

Género, transformación de conflictos y enfoque psicosocial 2006 Author: COSUDE El presente instrumento de trabajo brinda apoyo a la hora de incluir los métodos psicosociales en los programas de la cooperación internacional existentes. Explica la importancia del pensamiento psicosocial para el trabajo en el seno de un ambiente de violencia armada y estructural y muestra la importancia de dicho pensamiento para el trabajo cotidiano. Si bien el foco de atención del presente Toolkit está puesto en las zonas en conflicto, la mayoría de los documentos pueden utilizarse también para el trabajo en otros campos. Así, p. ej., tras una catástrofe natural o una epidemia, las intervenciones psicosociales constituyen, junto con la asistencia médica, la ayuda alimentaria o la procuración de alojamiento, un importante componente de la ayuda de emergencia.

Gender and qualitative interpretation of data 2006 Author: SDC The aim of these matrice is to assist users to reach a more qualitative understanding in their reading and interpretation of quantitative data from a gender perspective. Quantitative statistical data is often used as the basis for understanding the context in which development work takes place, as well as a means to assess change. However, quantitative data has its limitations in helping to understand the dynamics of the economic, political and social relations with which development interventions engage. Even where it is disaggregated, it also has limitations in highlighting diversities and inequalities at the national level. Questioning quantitative data from a gender perspective with the use of qualitative data may help to interpret better these statistics and to exercise the courage to grasp the real diversity in society. This will deepen the diagnostic of development problems and opportunities and help identify and create sound and useful information for baselines to feed into PCM, monitoring and evaluation processes.
